Definition
乞讨 (qǐ tǎo) specifically means to beg for money or food in public, often due to poverty. Unlike 乞求 (qǐ qiú 'to implore') or 哀求 (āi qiú 'to plead'), which are about earnestly asking for favors or mercy, 乞讨 is concrete street-level begging. It is more specific than the general 求 (qiú 'to request').
