Definition
为着 (wèi zhe) is the formal/written equivalent of 为了, meaning 'for' or 'in order to'. It introduces a purpose or reason and is followed by a noun phrase or verb phrase. In modern Chinese it is less common in casual conversation but appears frequently in formal writing, speeches, and official documents. Note that the pronunciation is actually wèi zhe, not wéi as the input suggests.
