Definition
临门 is a verb-object phrase meaning 'to arrive at the door' or 'to face the goal'. In soccer, it describes the moment a player is about to shoot at the goal (临门一脚, 'a shot at the goal'). More generally, it can be used literally for arriving at someone's door, but the soccer sense is the most common in modern usage. As a verb-object phrase, it can be split, for example: 临过门 ('once arrived at the door').
