丧生 (sàng shēng) means 'to lose one's life' specifically in an accident, disaster, or violent event — it is never used for natural or peaceful death. Unlike 去世 (general passing away) or 逝世 (respectful, for public figures), 丧生 always implies a sudden, tragic, or unnatural cause.
