不知不觉 (bù zhī bù jué) means 'unconsciously, without realizing it' and is used for gradual changes or the passage of time that go unnoticed. Unlike 不经意 (bù jīng yì), which describes a specific action done inadvertently or carelessly, 不知不觉 emphasizes a slow, continuous process the subject is unaware of.
