Definition
不如 (bù rú) means 'not as good as' and is the everyday verb for comparing inferiority. Unlike 不及 (bù jí, more formal) and 不亚于 (bù yà yú, 'not inferior to'), 不如 is also used to suggest a preferable action ('it would be better to'). It is a verb that directly takes a noun or clause.
