Definition
上家 refers to the person positioned immediately before you in a sequential order, most commonly used in games like mahjong or card games where players take turns. It literally means 'upper house' or 'previous player'. In a game context, the 上家 is the player who plays just before you. Outside games, it can also mean the person seated to your left at a table.
