Definition
上前 means 'to step forward' or 'to come forward', often to approach someone or initiate contact. It is a separable verb (离合词): the verb 上 and the object 前 can separate when inserting a measure word or complement, e.g. 上过一次前 ('stepped forward once'). When used with a specific number of times, the measure word 次 goes between the two syllables.
