Definition
一知半解 is a four-character idiom that describes having only superficial or incomplete knowledge of something — knowing just enough to be dangerous, literally 'one part know, half part understand'. You can use it as a predicate or attributive to criticize someone's shallow grasp of a topic. It carries a dismissive tone, so be careful not to use it about yourself in a humble way (that would sound insincere).
