Definition
一点儿 (yì diǎnr) means 'a little bit' and is used before nouns (一点儿水 'a little water') or after adjectives to mean 'a bit more' (好一点儿 'a bit better'). It also appears in the negative pattern 一点儿也不 'not at all'. Unlike 一下 (yí xià), which goes after verbs for brief actions (看一下 'take a look'), and 一些 (yī xiē), which is more like 'some' before nouns (一些人 'some people'), 一点儿 emphasizes a small amount or degree.
