一次次 is a reduplicated form of the verbal classifier 次 (cì, 'time/occasion'), meaning 'time after time' or 'again and again'. It emphasizes repeated occurrences of an action and is often used with 地 to form an adverbial phrase, as in 一次次地尝试 ('try again and again'). This pattern works with other classifiers too, but 一次次 is the most common and HSK-level appropriate.
