Definition
一概 (yīgài) is a formal/literary adverb meaning 'categorically, without exception', often used before a negative verb (e.g. 一概不) to state a blanket rule or attitude. It is more written and sweeping than the everyday 全都 (quán dōu 'all'), and differs from 一律 (yīlǜ) in that it stresses a categorical judgment rather than uniform treatment.
