Definition
一千零一 is the Chinese way of saying the number 1001 ('one thousand and one'). The character 零 is inserted to represent the zero digit when a multi-digit number has zeros between non-zero digits — a pattern that differs from English's 'and'. For example, 310 is 三百一十, but 301 is 三百零一. This pattern applies to any number with a mid-sequence zero.
